The Visionopen SolarView 3X is an illuminated desktop magnifier that prioritizes the accuracy of the light spectrum over the simple brightness that lower-cost LED magnifiers provide, using a ring of 16 LEDs calibrated to a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 97 — near-perfect color rendering that allows the human eye to distinguish colors under the magnifier with the same fidelity as natural outdoor daylight. At a CRI of 97, gemstone color grading, paint color matching, fabric color selection, postage stamp printing condition assessment, and botanical specimen examination can all be performed with confidence that the magnified colors accurately represent the true object colors. The 95mm diameter optical glass lens provides 3x magnification at a comfortable 100mm working distance, allowing both hands to fit beneath the lens for specimen manipulation. The light intensity is adjustable continuously from 10% to 100% via a rotary dial on the base, rather than the step-switching used in lower-cost models.
