The Visionopen ClockMaker 5X LED is a specialist desktop magnifier optimized for the restoration, servicing, and examination of antique and mechanical clocks — a discipline that demands both high optical quality for examining fine engravings, worn pivot holes, and escapement geometry, and a practical working configuration that accommodates the large, irregular three-dimensional form of clock movements and cases. The open-frame base design provides an unobstructed 350mm × 250mm working area without a surrounding platform rim, allowing movement plates, main spring barrels, and large clock cases to be positioned beneath the lens without constraints. The parallelogram arm allows the 90mm achromatic doublet lens at 5x magnification to be positioned at any point over this working area while remaining horizontal. The 16 LEDs at 6500K include two high-angle side lights on adjustable brackets that can be angled to provide raking illumination for examining worn surface detail on engraved plates — detail that flat-on illumination conceals.
