The 95mm apochromatic triplet lens delivers 5x magnification with the highest level of chromatic correction available in a desktop magnifier — apochromatic correction brings three wavelengths of light to a common focus, eliminating all residual color fringing that the standard achromatic doublet cannot fully correct, and providing the color accuracy needed for pigment identification and varnish layer assessment. The arm is a vibration-free parallelogram linkage that maintains the lens horizontal during repositioning, preventing the angular distortion that straight-arm designs introduce when the lens is moved across a painting surface. The base plate is a large 400mm × 250mm felt-lined surface that rests safely on canvas and panel surfaces. The LED ring uses museum-standard 5000K 95-CRI LEDs with UV-filtered output that produces no UV radiation — eliminating the UV-induced fluorescence that complicates visual examination of varnish layers.
